We receive many requests for reciprocal links and we manually
verify each link and its path from the home page by checking for
accuracy and quality before our link building software can add
your link. Because of the time spent verifying submitted links,
we had to set up strict criteria that we follow. Although an
indexing web spider might find all the links, we look it all
links from the human viewpoint. If we can quickly find our link,
so can your visitors. This helps improves the quality of our
link directory, which helps to better serve our visitors.
Therefore, we need to able to check each submitted link in a
timely fashion by using the following criteria:
You must have first posted our link, and we have verified its
location. (Many times, webmasters have promised us a link
exchange, but later when auditing the link exchange we are
unable to locate it.)
On your home page, there must be a visible and obvious link
pointing to your link directory. That link should be properly
labeled and easily recognized and identified as such. (We are
discovering that many sites that are requesting link exchanges
just to get listed in our directory and only have link pages and
with no navigation links between home page and link directory.
These are not true reciprocal link exchanges and besides, the
indexing spider will never find the exchanged link.)
Once in your link directory, our link must be easily located.
If the visitor is unable to locate the information or link, they
are looking for within your directory, the purpose of a
reciprocal links is defeated. There should be some sort of
categories listings your visitors can use to help locate what
they are looking for. (Many link directories are listing their
pages as links1, link2, etc with no labels indicating the
contents of the link pages. This type of link exchange has been
taken up to much of our time trying to verify our link.)
Unlikely candidates for link exchanges are web sites with
link pages containing many unrelated links grouped together with
no apparent theme. These link farms could lower the page rank of
listed links.
If the time it takes to verify our link is too long, we may
not be able to add your link. As stated before our link must be
easily and quickly located when navigating from your home page.
